***3G Royalties for VW40*** koreaherald.co.kr <Ericsson, NTT DoCoMo and Nokia have agreed on the percentage to be charged for the different essential technologies, and when added up, those percentages should not be more than the agreed- upon cap," said Janos Fugedi, president of Ericsson Korea, last month. Nokia and Ericsson are reported to have told the ministry that five percent or less would be charged as royalty fees.>
I thought these are the people who said [we know they lie and generally behave like bottom scavenging hagfish but there's always the hope of redemption] that IPR should be sold for small engineering fees, not huge royalties like that greedy Q! was charging [5.6%]! Meanwhile they charge 15% for GSM. Simply amazing that people can say such insane stuff and think that other people will take them seriously and not call the people in white coats.
Since Ed Snyder and other VW40 cultists swallow the lies, I suppose they really do take things seriously. Judging from the share price of Q! a lot of other people do too.
Simply amazing.
Still, Pteroductile, Gus and others think VW40 will save the world.
5% for Q! and 5% for the Hagfish Guild makes 10% for VW40. If the Koreans thought they should whine about 5.6% for IS-95, they'll be squealing like pigs at 10% for a standard which will probably not work anywhere near as well as the nice, cheap, ready-to-rumble cdma2000 which will cost only 5% or a bit more.
I still think Q! should charge 15% for the CDMA IP, same as the GSM Guild charges for their 2G, data-slow, crusty old system.
