Why is getting around the soft hand off a big issue? Qualcomm has clearly stated they have essential IPR so quite possibly this patent is one of their essentials. Qualcomm has also stated that 27 other companies also have essential IPR for 3-G. 3-G revenues will be shared by many companies.
