All branch mis-predicts for ALL PROCESSORS suffer penalties - but at 1.4 GHz, those 30 cycles go by very quickly - about 21 nanoSeconds ! Will there be a new JVM designed around the new Willamette SSE2 instructions? I wouldn't have a clue right now. What is important is that Willamette is heading for production in about 3 or 4 months and Foster will show up in early 2001. Paul
