On a lighter note: When I first moved to New York, I lived in a loft in SOHO. During the first few weeks, almost around the clock, I would hear "moaning": "ohhh . . .ohhh . . .ohhh . . .". On and on and on and on. . . . I came to the conclusion that my upstairs neighbors were veeeerrry affectionate, didn't have jobs that interfered with their amorous activities, and required very little sleep . . . I greeted every person I met coming down the stairs in our building with a knowing smile . . . When I finally figured out the "moaning" was actually pigeon cooing, I never laughed so hard in my life.
