No argument here, though for some I think there was remaining value, if only in the brand name recognition. My point was two-fold a) there are significant, ongoing, and unattended problems with Corel's products, and b) the code-morass you cite is being addressed by progessively less qualified and experienced people, who are in the nightmare situation of dealing with that morass in its third generation. Lines of code productivity decreases with each iteration of this stupid cycle of development management, as does product quality.
Corel bought assets with problems, and tried to ignore those problems. That, more than anything else, is why the Linux effort is a non-starter. It could be done, but not by Corel, not now. |
