You mentioned that she complained that the birds were keeping her awake at night. If you live in a city, pigeons can be a major PITA. But they inflict themselves on everyone, so I don't really think this is a clue. A better one is that they kept her awake. From what I've read, it seems fairly clear that she'd had trouble sleeping for a long time. Why? My guess is that it was the herbal stuff that she was taking. I have several highly intelligent friends who insist that their sleep disturbances cannot POSSIBLY be related to their intake of caffeine or other stimulants. And Edwarda seems to have been into a lot of that kind of thing. Does it have a cumulative effect?
