OT / "router" vs. "rooter"

Stephen Yeo,

What is the source of information for your assertion that Gore pronounces "router" as "rooter"?

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with calling it "rooter" as opposed to "router".

I've heard rural "route" mailing addresses called rural "root" mailing addresses, and never thought much about the difference in pronunciation.

On the other hand, I've never heard a "root" canal [as in dentistry] called a "route" canal. But perhaps if it were typically called a "route" canal, then "root" canal would be acceptable as well? I don't know...maybe I'm confused, or something. <g>
