It's an area of major importance that arrogance or something is preventing them from every admitting to needing fixed. Microsoft understands this is an area of critical importance and they have it down to a science.

I'm not sure I'd point to MSFT as the example of great QA. But more importantly, Microsoft has considerable weakness in its user interface designs. Personally, I find the Inprise products to be very intuitive for the most part. Although, I must admit, most of this UI comes from several years ago, and I've not seen anything revolutionary of late. And while there is no question Inprise is slow to get patches out (if at all), I find there are seldom serious flaws in the software in the first place. Microsoft seems to thrive on poor user interface design.

On the issue of documentation, while I've disagreed with your assertions in the past, I do think that with the continuing emphasis on the Enterprise and all the attendent complexity of the development environment, better docs becomes an important issue. Like you, I fail to find reason for any warm feeling in this regard at all.
