Eric , re. You think AMD's stock has gone up on Flash
AMD's stock has gone up because of a number of factors , flash is just one of them .
The other factors are a true 7th generation CPU 18 months ahead of Intel , Intel took their old 6th generation CPU and force fed it with their 256 bit data path running at core speed thus making it seem to the public that chip was
the equivalent . The biggest problem for Intel is that it was designed at a time when gigahertz was just a dream , that is why the PIII runs out of steam above 800mhz
The Dresden plant is now a revenue producer just at a time
when other semi cos including Intel it seems , are crying out for extra production facilities . Although AMD lost money from 98-99 it was spending on R+D which paved the way for its successes now , to my way of thinking AMD has not only had brilliant planning but it also lulled Intel and its investors to sleep so they do not sense the danger.
