Good article Kenneth. One of the key reasons (aside from NT's technical prowess, & top executive mgmt.) that I am personally so bullish on NT and have been for a decade is that NT is so strong in all the key markets OUTSIDE North America - which many LU/CSCO followers may not be quite aware of.

When you think about their market share & presence in South America, Asia, and Europe, you realize how well NT is positioned to potentially dominate the WORLD-WIDE networking market.

Yes LU & CSCO is not going away but first of all the infrastructure market is huge and will experience hypergrowth as the world truly gets wired (or is that a misnomer considering wireless will overtake wirelines!?) and secondly, NT is extremely well-positioned to get the lion's share of public networking infrastructure projects in the "rest-of-the-world".

The fact that NT made the bold decision to;

1) bet big on optics before anyone else
2) IP enable all their existing product lines & wireless technology
3) INTEGRATE and LEVERAGE the above technical lead into a market share wins

makes me feel very comfortable that NT will outperform LU, CSCO, ALA, ERICY and other networking vendors by a clear margin in the next few years (beyond that it's impossible to predict of course).

It's also clear that NT is not happy to be number 2 or 3. They are taking bold steps and investing heavily to become THE DOMINANT networking vendor in the new IP/Wireless.

History tells us that the incumbents are most exposed when they experience paradigm shifting technological revolution. Clearly NT recognizes this and is seizing this momentous opportunity to take a decisive lead and leapfrog LU as the biggest networking vendor in the world (I expect that to happen within couple of years -- not based on capitalization which is almost guaranteed -- but based on revenue).
