Commerx To Utilize Manugistics' Advanced Supply Chain Collaboration Solutions for Industrial Markets

CHICAGO and ROCKVILLE, Md., June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Further building on its end-to-end eMarketplace supply chain solutions, Commerx, Inc., developers of Commerx PlasticsNet and Commerx Metals, today announced plans to offer collaborative supply chain solutions, powered by Manugistics Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: MANU), to its eMarketplace users.

Manugistics NetWORKS(TM) Web-based solutions will provide Commerx with a technological infrastructure designed to enable users to share and view real- time information, and execute intelligent mission-critical decisions, for improved collaboration among participating industrial companies. Commerx expects hosted collaboration among suppliers, buyers and their customers to reduce inventory carrying costs, improve cash flow through more efficient use of working capital, and enhance customer service.

Traditionally, buyer demand and supplier production forecasts were generally created without input from one another. This process can result in large inventory levels and frequent stock-outs throughout the supply chain. The Manugistics-powered solution is a key part of Commerx's goal to allow eMarketplace participants and their trading partners to collaborate on a common, secure business platform. Customized user profiles and business rules will allow the user to better control and maintain unique channel relationships with each trading partner.

"With Manugistics, we can give our users even more tools to eliminate waste and increase efficiency in their supply chains," said Tim Stojka, chairman and CEO of Commerx. "Manugistics was our number one choice - it is a recognized leader in intelligent supply chain solutions and has a proven ability to work with alliance partners."

Greg Owens, Manugistics president and CEO, said, "Commerx's eMarketplace supply chain solutions and Manugistics' intelligent engines will help participating companies better plan and execute critical business decisions. With Commerx, we anticipate greater opportunities to execute on our ambitious B2B eCommerce strategy."

"Manugistics' domain and eBusiness experience, along with its best-of- breed technology, make it perfect to address mission-critical business processes that can impact our users' top-line growth," said Chris Lange, Commerx vice president, operations/supply chain. "Our users will soon have access to very powerful tools to enable true online, industrial market collaboration. We expect that when fully utilized, the savings for our users - in time and money - should be significant."

Commerx and Manugistics also plan to create additional collaborative, intelligent eMarketplace supply chain solutions for the processes and systems of buyers and sellers.
