I agree. I was very touched by the hundreds of condolence letters my father and I received when my mother died, some of them from people I didn't know.

It's a comfort to survivors to know that the person they loved lives on in the memories of others.

To erase the thread now would seem to me rather like saying "Well, it's over now, let's forget all about it".
