I guess you miss the point. Corel and Adobe have been vigorous innovators in this area. They have made great strides in quality photo manipulation and presentation. Microsoft is a come-lately with a ho hum product.

The key thing though, is that Microsoft's "innovations" are going to make the Corel and Adobe products unable to interface with the standard tools, such as scanners. Now as a customer you can have Microsoft's mediocre product which works, or your choice of another product that doesn't. I'm sure Microsoft's offering will get better in time as they copy the features, but then that's it. The competitors will be out of business and Microsoft will be only as good as it has to be. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
