TsioKawe..........
Actually, you know I'm not one for charts. You also know I'm not a big trader like yourself.
Regarding my mtg 1 1/2 yrs ago, it does have relevance in several ways.
Glenn is always saying "bashers" make no effort to understand what PNL is trying to achieve and nothing about trade.
Glenn also says "bashers" hide behind online anonymity.
To begin with I'm not a "basher". Glenn knows exactly who I am.
I have made a concerted effort to understand how trading has been done previously with freightforwarders facilitating commerce.
I have also made a concerted effort to understand how each service and enhancement by PNL has been done to quite literally make PNL a one stop shop for every import export need.
Moreover, I realize what an herculean effort this is.
So, much of what I learned previously hasn't changed. What changed was the emphasis of how the company intended to generate significant enough revenue to generate earnings.
PNL always had transactions fees for faxing, plus other services and always had advertising fees for banner placement, et cetera. Transactions and advertising though had been previously subordinate to anticipated memberships.
Thus the "plan" didn't change, the emphasis did.
Previously PNL was going to concentrate so much content, that people were going to join "overnight" as members due to all of this content being aglomerated on one site.
Now tsig still needs those same people to show up and do transactions and watch content on PNL-TV without making a lengthy commitment so that their advertising "space" is of value to advertisers trying to get sticky eyeballs.
The first emphasis ended up flying in the face of internet psychology..of let's get what we can for free... thus the whopping $7 G for all of last year for membership fees.
The new emphasis, doesn't necessarily get everyone to stick because they're not committed members, but basically IMO the whole thing comes down to being a "volume" model of doing business and generating revenues, meaning PNL is using content to attract visitors to demonstrate to prospective advertisers that PNL's tv and web site are worth the rates to place advertising and buy infomercials.
Like I wrote before, with the internet rapidly expanding in the number of sites and content, advertising gets diluted.
Also within certain industries like automotive, construction, and aviation, trading partners are consortiums and are setting up their own b2b networks, so within many industries PNL is superfluous.
Moreover, PNL's ultimately is in a chicken and egg situation since w/o members, or, at least, registered users supplementing their database, the database remains inadequate in being a really legitimate source for leads. W/o leads and a good database, the best reason for making a greater commitment and for using PNL's other services gets somewhat marginalized.
Anywa, just my opinions...thus, you're right in one respect Tsio, a lot has changed since my visit. VERT and GM and others have developed more focused b-models and effective ways for utilizing the internet for b2b trade, and both membership and volume models have been demonstrated repeatedly not to generate enough revenues to offset increasing marketing and operating costs.
So happy trading Tsio.....watch those arrow patterns in your charts closely, since those arrows can get stuck in your behind.
I'll just hold onto my remaining 1000 shares "just if" PNL can build their field of dreams. Sold 4,000 like I said I would if Glenn didn't get back to me. Guess GZ likes to be asked tough questions only with comfy pillows.
Good luck - from your trading post

Btw- Maybe you can barter something to PNL for a link onto PNL's site for your tribe's cause. But be weary, Glenn's good at bartering, so stay away from those blankets with small pox. . |
