Street Hawk,

In general, the RMBS technology has yet to prove that its outrageously expensive memory is any better than ordinary SDRAM in numerous speed clocking tests.

Man, I love you guys who keep making this claim. It keeps giving me the opportunity to point you once again toward the May issues of PC Mag and PC World. New RDRAM systems took 3 of the top 5 slots in the Performance PC category. The 800Mhz Dell RDRAM system had the same benchmark performance as the 1Ghz Athlons. The 1Ghz PIII/820/RDRAM Dell system bettered the 1Ghz Athlon systems by at least 33% (and even better than some of the slower Athlon systems).

And the Dell B Series systems cost just 10% more with RDRAM than an equivalent T Series system with SDRAM.

And just in case you're wondering, many more people read these publications than read Tom's site or The Register.

Thanks,

Dave
