John

Thank you.

Visualization is so important to the game. It is associated with the subconscious in that it tells the inner voices what to do. I am working hard with it lately in my new love, disc golf. I must admit to playing it at least 5X as often as ball. I believe it is the new challenge of learning the fundamentals and developing a game.

I often use my ball golf background in disc. I am in such a different phase (beginner vrs advanced) in disc that it is often hard to remember where my focus should be. As with ball golf the initial phase is mostly physical. The body must be taught the motion. It must be repeated over and over again so the muscles know how to react and therefore, they can react quicker making for a smoother motion. In due time the process will become ingrained and I will start the focus on the mental aspects.

In short, the process one goes through learning golf is 90:10 physical:mental in the beginning and works it's way to 10:90 physical:mental as one becomes advanced.
