Don, it usually coincides with tops...however, i have to add the caveat here that it always drops off after expiration. it's only that today's volume was exceptionally low, as in a record low. it is quite remarkable how little hedging is taking place. i looked all last week at the hedge roll-overs that were occurring, and was struck by the continued decline in put buying. that's imo the major hurdle this market faces: complacency is way too high.
i personally think the rally may have a little further to go, but the extremes in sentiment positioning measures are hinting that the next leg down will be as stunning as the first one. the Rydex ratios are within 0,02 of new all time lows....a grave warning sign.

regards,

hb
