This morning the Houston Chronicle reports that AT&T wireless has purchased Primco. This will force the 1.5 MM Primeco customers to replace their cdma phones with TDMA phones over the next year to enjoy the benefits of AT&T's nationwide network.

AT&T only purchased the Houston area portion of PrimeCo....this along with the San Diego portion of GTE probably totals around 300,000 CDMA subs. It would have been better if another CDMA operator had bought the properties....but I dont think that it is too big a deal. This will allow the BAM/GTE/VOD formation of Verizon to go through....
