Ancor Advances InfiniBand Initiative at Developers' Conference

MINNEAPOLIS, June 20 /PRNewswire/ --

Ancor Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: ANCR) executives and engineers will be advancing the company's leadership as the early InfiniBand switch developer at the InfiniBand Trade Association's (IBTA) Developers' Conference in Newport Beach, Calif., this week. The focus will be on educating IBTA members about InfiniBand developments impacting switching.

InfiniBand switch technology allows customers to connect multiple computers, networks and other devices, increasing scalability and performance without having to compete for bandwidth. In 1999, Ancor announced an agreement with Intel Corporate to develop and market switches based on the InfiniBand architecture.

Ancor Vice President of Advanced Planning Rob Davis will present a session at 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, focusing on how to implement storage solutions with InfiniBand technology. In addition, Ancor's Nancy Golio, principal software engineer, will participate in a tutorial on the path resolution sections of the InfiniBand specifications on Thursday, June 22.

"The Developers' Conference gives people a glimpse of where the next generation of Intel-based server systems is headed," Davis said. "Ancor's Fibre Channel switch expertise has really enabled us to assume a leadership position in the development of an InfiniBand switch. This gathering is an important way to continue pushing the entire InfiniBand initiative forward."

Ancor joined the IBTA in 1999.
