The companies will work together to promote Tarantella as a key element of Nortel Networks' Preside Managed Application Services Platform, allowing Application Service Providers (ASPs) to quickly web-enable applications for eBusiness.

"Nortel Networks is pleased to enter this relationship with the Tarantella Division and offer the Tarantella product capabilities to its global ASP customer base," said Rich Caruso, president, Application Service Provider Segment, Nortel Networks. "Tarantella allows us to provide a key element required for the ASP market; the ability to adapt legacy and other non-web-based applications to run in a hosted environment. The Preside Managed Application Services Platform, combined with Tarantella technology, will allow ASPs to offer a rich portfolio of applications and position the ASPs for success in this emerging marketplace."

"This is an important alliance for Tarantella," said Mike Orr, President of the Tarantella Division. "The ASP movement started with productivity tools, and is now moving into traditional, UNIX system-based applications such as ERP and CRM. Nortel Networks' new application service management solution will integrate Tarantella software, so that ASPs can quickly web-enable and deploy these powerful business applications, regardless of whether they are running on mainframes, Windows or UNIX systems."

Tarantella software instantly web-enables applications for access by users anywhere, allowing administrators to quickly deliver any application to any client, without installation on the client device. Tarantella software utilizes an innovative Adaptive Internet Protocol (AIP) to provide optimal network performance, even over low-bandwidth connections.
