hordes of deer There are man-eating armadillos to contend with also. None of the hunting or target shooting or just plain holding and admiring of firearms requires large caches of secret weapons. Proper registration and periodic accounting that weapons are still in control of their proper and trained owner is fully compatible with these activities. Civil liberties can be protected by an expanded and more independant National Guard. Heck, the NRA could propose that the guards and militas keep their weapons at home. The point is you don't have to keep gun ownership secret and cheap and widespread to accomplish what all the members say they want. If people become accountable for their weapons then the pressure to eliminate them will reduce. TP
