J.D. Edwards Introduces OneWorld Xe, Delivering Industry-Leading Functionality For Collaborative Commerce
New Release of Enterprise Software Suite for Collaborative Commerce Brings Unprecedented Level of Agility and Ease of Integration, Speeding Time To Market
FOCUS 2000, DENVER, June 20 /PRNewswire/ -- J.D. Edwards & Company (Nasdaq: JDEC), a leading provider of agile, collaborative solutions for the Internet economy, today announced that it will deliver the next generation of collaborative commerce (C-commerce) solutions in OneWorld(R) Xe. This new release of J.D. Edwards' software offers unmatched quality and power in automating business processes and communication.
OneWorld Xe will enable J.D. Edwards' customers to engage in C-Commerce, by empowering them to use open, collaborative technologies that allow communication among vendors, suppliers and customers across the supply chain, maximizing value in business-to-business environments.
Interoperability Through OneWorld XPI
As part of OneWorld Xe, J.D. Edwards also today introduced its new Extended Process Integration technology -- OneWorld XPI, offering interoperability between applications and among enterprises. (See related release, June 20, 2000). In addition to pre-packaged integration of automated business processes, J.D. Edwards has announced alliances with Active Software, Inc. and Netfish Technologies, Inc. (see related releases, June 20, 2000) to make interoperability available today. Under these agreements, J.D. Edwards has purchased both Active Software and Netfish technologies to be resold with OneWorld and embedded in future releases of its OneWorld Xe software.
J.D. Edwards' new interoperability strategy supports major standards bodies such as the Open Applications Group's (OAGI) horizontal work, RosettaNet for the electronics industry and UCCnet for the consumer industry. These organizations are devoted to the development and deployment of standard electronic business interfaces that enable a common language for business processes between supply chain partners worldwide.
Delivering Quality For the first time, J.D. Edwards' software will include the OneWorld Scripting Tool, which will enable customers to keep complex customizations intact through system upgrades and enhancements. The solution automates standard processes to ensure that software quality remains intact and that implementation, validation, and maintenance tasks are completed quickly and efficiently. This allows customers to gain maximum return on investments and speed time to market when new applications are needed to support dynamic business requirements.
The OneWorld Scripting Tool can be run across any OneWorld client without modification. OneWorld Xe also allows customers to develop applications on a preferred platform, and then deploy to three user interface options -- HTML, Java, or Win32 -- from that one source. This "write once" efficiency simplifies OneWorld Xe for use across today's complex enterprise environments.
Further simplifying system management is the ActivEra Solution Accelerator Suite. The ActivEra Solution Accelerator Suite includes knowledge of how to understand, implement, use and change J.D. Also, an improved, intuitive user interface, and a clean, simple look make the portal a powerful but effective tool for all users, including partners and customers, requiring access to OneWorld Xe's business-to-business applications.
