OTTAWA (CP) - Prime Minister Jean Chretien continued his revolving-door Senate appointments Tuesday, naming veteran broadcaster Betty Kennedy and Quebec businessman Raymond Setlakwe to the upper house. Neither will spend much time in the red chamber. Kennedy has less than a year before reaching the mandatory Senate retirement age of 75 while Setlakwe has four years. Chretien defended his preference for appointing older senators. "These are people with a great deal of experience and as they're not going to be there for long, they're taking it very, very seriously," he said. "They're not coming to the Senate to build a whole career." Kennedy was a panelist on CBC's Front Page Challenge - the longest running public and current affairs program in Canadian history - from 1962 to 1995.
