I guess everyone had the same idea on what to get dad for Father?s Day. DVD sales were spectacular last week, in fact they haven?t been this high since mid-April!
According to statistics from VideoScan?s First Alert Reporting Retailers, for the week ending June 11, 2000, DVD title sales were 831,000, up from 651,000 the previous week. Year-to-date DVD titles sales are rapidly approaching the 20 million mark and are currently at 17,228,000.
According to the Consumer Electronics Association unit sales to dealers for the week ending June 9, 2000, DVD player sales were sufficient, having sold 83,497, a 196 percent increase over this week in 1999. Month-to-date sales are at 218,920, a 323.4 percent increase over June 1999 and year-to-date sales are at 2,265,172, a 123.9 percent increase over 1999 sales.
Analog projection television sales were spectacular for the week, having sold 16,439, an 84.1 percent increase. Month-to-date sales are 37,718, a tremendous 104.3 percent increase over June 1999 sales, with a year-to-date total of 522,933, a 29.4 percent increase over 1999 sales.
However, VCR deck unit sales to dealers were down for the week at 260,060, a mere 17.9 percent increase over 1999. Month-to-date sales are at 586,358, a 56.6 percent increase over June 1999 and year-to-date sales are 8,831,363, a 12.6 mere percent increase over 1999. |
