Tench - RE: "Thanks. I already knew AMD had a half-shrink in the works, a.k.a. the so-called 0.15u process. Perhaps Mustang and Corvette will be the first processors featured on the half-shrink."

Hmm, maybe they won't be doing a shrink after all... According to this question from the FAQ on their website Mustang and Corvette will be .18. How in the world are they going to get a .18 mobile Athlon (not Duron, which uses much less power)?

I guess it is good for Intel if Mustang only has up to 1MB L2 cache.

"Q15:What do the AMD codenames mean?

A15:
?Mustang?

Enhanced version of AMD Athlon processor with reduced core size, lower power requirements, and up to 1MB of on-chip, performance-enhancing L2 cache memory. Manufactured on a 0.18 micron copper process technology. Multiple derivatives of the Mustang core are planned to address the requirements of the high-performance server/workstation, value/performance desktop and mobile markets.

?Corvette?

Enhanced version of AMD Athlon processor based on ?Mustang? core with reduced core size, lower power requirements and support for mobile features. Will represent the first AMD Athlon mobile offering. Manufactured on a 0.18 micron copper process technology."
