Jeffrey, Michael Murphy, punter in technology stocks and editor of Technology Investing, recently recommended acquiring the stocks of Applied Materials, Cisco, Intel, Oracle and Microsoft.

Amazing. I went to a freebie investing conference in June 1998 in downtown San Jose at which Murphy and Kevin Landis (Firsthand Funds) held forth. Murphy recommended those exact 5 then also. I did buy AMAT shortly after, had been thinking about it anyway, maybe he pushed it over the line. Good buy it was to say the least. I had Intel, since added more, and bought Cisco since, but certainly not because of his recommendations. Speaking of Landis, I wish I'd listened more closely to him. He started pushing AMCC, Triquint and others back then, that have gone ballistic. Being more of a tech leader investor, I went with the bigger guys mostly. No complaints though.
