Number Of New Oil Establishments To Be Inaugurated

Khartoum, June 20 (SUNA)- A number of new oil establishments, affiliated to the Ministry of Energy And Mining, will be inaugurated within the context of the coming 11th anniversary of the National Salvation Revolution.

The establishments include a centre for oil laboratory in Khartoum Extension, oil training centre and an oil information centre.

New Refinery Brings Down Fuel Prices For Sudanese

KHARTOUM, Sudan (AP) June 20 -In the little more than a month since it has been
operating, a Chinese-built refinery has increased supplies of refined
products and reduced prices for Sudanese consumers.

Attif Ahmad Hamid, deputy director of the Khartoum Refinery, spoke Monday as
he guided reporters around the facility located some 50 kilometers north of
the capital.

He said the refinery has made Sudan nearly self-sufficient in all petroleum
products except for jet fuel. The $640 million Sudanese-Chinese venture is
designed to handle 50,000 barrels of crude oil daily. Two-thirds of its 550
workers are Chinese, the rest Sudanese.

Due to the refinery's output, the price of gas cylinders Sudanese use for
cooking dropped over the past month from $5.30 to $2.60 each.
