Computer Sciences (CSC: news, msgs) lost 12 1/16 to 71 5/16. The company announced Tuesday it's buying Mynd -- formerly Policy Management Systems -- at a premium of about 46 percent in a deal worth about $568 million. Shares of Mynd (PMS: news, msgs) skyrocketed 38 percent, or 4 3/16 to 15 1/8.

hi dealer,
i agree with v that merrill and the other old timers just do not have it right. but, that does not mean they will not fight.

merrill's "tech stock of the year for 1999" was CSC...i have mentioned that before. they called it at 72 last year.

what a joke... i would expect merrill's tech analyst, joe osha, to get fired over this, but the selection happened before he was hired....although his tech calls are not any better.

the thing to keep in mind though is the old money has a lot of gumption...i believe the last dump was a merrill invention....and i believe as long as the dow drops and the nas rises they will try it again...those old farts are patient and will dump in a heartbeat for greater gains, if they think the new, impatient, tech investor can be shaken out.
