Here is a realization that I've been working on. No means complete as of yet:

"Major whipsaws tend to shift through different time frames as a trend progresses. Swing traders must respond quickly and consider a shift in holding period as soon as the current shakeout target can be identified. This requires advanced trading skills and a well-developed sense of market timing."
