Political hacks will always attempt to emulate Big Brother. And if you eliminate all the political hacks, whoever has the largest number of chips will hire a bunch of thugs and try to set himself up as big brother. The desire of humans to dominate other humans is instinctive. It is not present in every human, but it will appear in a substantial number of individuals in any generation. We cannot rid ourselves of these people; all we can do is set up systems that will limit the power that any one individual can wield, and play the would-be Big Brothers off against each other. It's a never-ending struggle.
