I am well aware that there are many Christians, including fundamentalists, that regard their religion as a personal affair and do not seek to dominate or impose upon anyone. That does not change my opinion that fundamentalist Christianity as an organized force shows dangerously aggressive and dominant tendencies.

I could say the same about individual Muslims and fundamentalist Islam, or about fundamentalist political ideologies.

I believe that we must strive to limit and control the dominant and aggressive tendencies shown by organized fundamentalism of all sorts, without depriving individuals of their right to hold and practice their own beliefs. That requires an intricate balancing act, which must be perpetually refined and adjusted.
