Susan and any compassionate gemmers: As you may be aware I recently purchased a real computer. Hooked it up and for the first two days it was terrific. Then I began getting, at intermittent intervals, a notice on my screen informing me that I have "Performed an ILLEGAL operation and my system will be shutdown." Well, you can imagine my consternation...and fear. I expect the Computer Police to batter down my front door and lead me away in cuffs. This tends to inhibit my trading prowess. Sometimes I see this warning immediately, hit the "close" or "X" thing and it goes away. But too often I don't see it immediately and true to it's words...it freezes my computer...can't do anything, can't go anywhere. I am forced to shut off power, boot up all over again. Then I get a message that I didn't shut down properly...of course not...I'd hit the windows key to shut down as I should...but of course nothing happens. Anyway, I'm able to reconnect and all is well...until the darn warning pops up again. Can anyone help me. This should not be happening. Also...my ISP is MSN and these folks make me reconnect if I don't show some signs of activity for 15-20 minutes. Is there an ISP that will leave me alone for a few hours? (Lee)
