OAKVILLE, ONTARIO--ZENON Environmental Inc. (TSE:ZEN. - news; TSE:ZEN.A - news) announced today that it has been awarded contracts to supply its ZenoGem© wastewater treatment system to leading international manufacturers in the pharmaceutical and electronics sectors. The value of all three systems is approximately $4 million.
The world's largest pharmaceutical ZenoGem© plant will be built in Ireland as ZENON continues to successfully market its technology worldwide. The sale of the ZenoGem© system to a leading American multinational marks a significant step for further penetration in this industry. Ireland is known for having one of the largest concentration of pharmaceutical plants in the world and this contract will be ZENON's first in that country.
Two electronic and industry multinationals, one in Malaysia and one in Taiwan, have also chosen to use ZENON's ZenoGem© technology to treat their wastewater and will be the first in the Pacific Rim to utilize Canada's leading ZeeWeed© membrane technology.
``We are pleased to say that our offices in the UK and Singapore, established only last year, are already obtaining new orders in areas of the world previously unserviced by ZENON,'' states Dr. Andrew Benedek, Chairman and CEO. ``These offices position us strategically to serve multinationals around the world. We also believe that our new clients will become repeat customers once they see how well our ZeeWeed© system works.''
The ZenoGem© wastewater system treats to a high effluent quality and occupies a small space compared to conventional systems. It incorporates ZENON's patented ZeeWeed© immersed membrane technology, which draws clean water to the inside of the membrane fibre, while leaving impurities behind.
ZENON is a world leader in providing advanced membrane products and services for water purification, wastewater treatment and water reuse. The ZENON group of companies operates from seven locations in North America, six in Europe, and one in each of Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East.
