MGJ-Interesting articles on WCOM. They definitely have their hands full at the moment. Don't see them as a "seller" nor do I see VOD being interested. Gent (and Ginn) are believers in a global wireless world and are going to use their stock and cash to realize this vision. Obviously, WCOM does'nt do anything to help them achieve this.

As the Paine Webber analyst correctly states that there is a wireless "overhang" on WCOM stock now. Without FON merger, I disagree with those that think that WCOM won't make a play for NXTL. Expensive yes, dilutive yes- but can't see the stock breaking out over the long-term without some serious wireless presence and don't see Ebbers "selling" to a European telco as the solution to this dilemma. Too power hungry and aggressive to "cash out" to a European telco. I've heard him say that in a few years there will really only be about five "global" telecom companies and WCOM will be one of them. You've already got T, FT, DT, BT, Telefonica, VOD, Baby Bells, NTT, etc. all wanting to be in the mix. So can't see Bernie selling out to one of them.
