Re: what he has enabled me to do for myself......sometimes I cannot listen to Bob or failed to hear exactly what he said

Do you feel "enabled" enough to do without Bob? That isn't to suggest that you shouldn't listen to him, but if Bob were to quit, would you be looking for that full service broker again, a replacement guru, or will you be able to "time" the market and chose investments for yourself?

Weekends produce two nationally syndicated financial radio programs, Moneytalk and The Motley Fool. Both shows strive to enable it's listeners to fend for themselves in managing their own investments. The approaches differ in several ways, but most importantly in the respect that Brinker utilizes market timing, the Fools do not. Although Brinker provides some general subjective criteria to identify Bear Markets, his exact tools are not divulged, especially when it comes to his shorter term strategies. In the absence of Brinker's "exact words", there have been no gift horse buying opportunities, bear market rallies, or tactical asset allocation shifts. What this "enables" one to do seems limited to switching from one guru (full service broker) for another (radio personality).

I have supported the Fools program on this thread before and have always been slapped the face with Rainforest Cafe. But a bad stock pick doesn't invalidate an entire approach to investing. Those who learn from the Fools and follow their approach should be able to get along just as well without them. If the kid with the football goes home, the game goes on.

ENABLE: To make one able to do something.
