I couldn't help thinking of you when I read the following comments on a thread underway over at slashdot (concerning the ultra-stable Microsoft development products); I've just picked a few...
"The features you mention are quite useful but IMO the main problem with MSVC, which causes me to tear out my hair on a regular basis, is build management. I have wasted ridiculous amounts of time because of some inconsistency in the dependencies in a complex project. In the end the solution is frequently to do a total rebuild, wasting another 4 hours..."
"Well, I am also using MSVC and I surely could imagine more stable system..."
"Try "Intellisense" on a large project. I routinely see popup times of 5-10 seconds, and the editor locks up during that time. "

"They copied those features from Borland products, so when Kylix gets out, maybe more people will start looking at Linux." -- I think the writer of this remark was referring to Microsoft's Intellisense, a flat knockoff of Borland's code completion (which doesn't work much better)...

What I think is that you don't use Borland tools and never have, and haven't a clue as to whether they work, don't work, or whatever. |
