I am not familiar with the details of Mr. Allen's portfolio, but one thing to remember when making statements like "This doesn't show great confidence in MSFT's prospects." is that there is a good chance that what Mr. Allen is doing is exercising options, which do expire at various intervals. That, combined with the fact that he has many other projects(and sports teams!) on the go, make it hard for me to believe that his sale of stock has anything to do with Microsoft's prospects.
