Edwards OneWorld(R) to manage county-wide operations, including public safety, healthcare and highway maintenance. Cook County is realizing immediate benefits from the solution's real-time information sharing and online procurement capabilities. In addition, OneWorld's flexibility, scalability and interoperability will enable the solution to expand to meet future growth requirements.
Cook County, home to the city of Chicago and the second largest county in the United States, serves a population of approximately 5 million people with a staff of 27,000 and an annual budget of $2.6 billion. The County manages a diverse range of operations, including running three major hospitals and over 25 medical clinics, overseeing the largest unified court system in the country, and maintaining roads and highways throughout northeastern Illinois. The county needed a system that could track inventory, purchase order requests, and payroll and benefits across all departments. It also had complex accounting and HR requirements, including unique financial relationships with over 75 unions, and intense regulatory and documentation demands.
