HONG KONG- Conexant Systems Inc.
expects to deliver in the fourth quarter of 2000
the first product in a family of next-generation
Bluetooth system solutions.

The Bluetooth offering will include a family of
radio components, a variety of single- and
two-chip solutions, and a complete software
protocol stack including application profiles. It
has also expanded its family of RF subsystems
with a new offering for IS-136-compliant
time-division multiple access (TDMA) cellular
phones.

Conexant now is the industry's only supplier of
complete, highly-integrated RF chipsets for all
three of the world's most popular wireless
standards - TDMA, CDMA and GSM
handsets.

The TDMA RF subsystem comprises two
devices, both designed to benefit end users
through longer battery life. The transmit ASIC
is a triple-mode, dual-band transmitter and
consumes less than 90mA at full operational
power, extending talk time. The receive ASIC
includes virtually all the necessary functions for
a radio receiver system and with a current
consumption less then 30 mA, extends standby
time. The transmit and receive TDMA RF
ASICs are packaged in a 48-pin, thin-quad flat
pack (TQFP) or 7x7mm land-grid array (LGA).
Available now, the pair of ASICs are priced at
less than US$8 in production quantities.

Designed for wireless devices such as cellular
phones, PDAs and mobile computers,
Conexant's Bluetooth solutions will be targeted
for applications that need short-range mobile
data access, along with robust performance and
low power consumption.

The combined solutions will offer Asian
manufacturers a consistent development
environment, low bill-of-materials and
manufacturing costs, and provide the
autonomy, ease-of-use and affordability which
consumers need in personal wireless
connectivity applications. These solutions are
based on recently-acquired Philsar
Semiconductor's RF technology for personal
wireless connectivity. Conexant plans to
incorporate Bluetooth technology into products
from multiple divisions.
