Hello everyone:

Been monitoring for years and haven't chimed in for awhile.

I was in this stock when it traded about 30k shares daily and no one knew what Flash Memory was. My investigations into their patent portfolio convinced me that they had a wealth of technology and a legal department that was savvy enough to protect them vigorously. Sandisk has continued to enforce their patents and has developed wealth through tons of cross-licensing agreements that we will never know the details about.

Everyone should remember that Sandisk holds very fundamental technology in this area and their pioneering patents have proven to be untouchable (they're valid in other words). This is the crux of why Sandisk will continue to grow especially with this coming Christmas season all over the planet.

They have never been a great marketing company. They have relied upon their clients to push their products through their own advertising. Of course, when you convince a company to package Sandisk memories with their new products, you build brand loyalty instantly with customers.

On the other hand, three years ago it was nearly impossible to find a Sandisk product on a store shelf anywhere, but now they are everywhere. Sandisk could market their products more themselves, but Eli knows it would crush the bottom line and hurt shareholders. I understand there is plenty of incentive for the Best Buy's of the world to push Sandisk products hard. That's where the money is for them.

I am a bit disturbed by the advertising done by Sony. It's very good. Their Memory Stick product is shown well in ads displaying simply how the same memory device can be used in many different electronic devices. I think the stores could better show how CompactFlash cards and other Sandisk memories can be used in different devices.

In the end though, the technology owned by Sandisk will carry them forward to greater and greater revenues and profits. It's a big world and this digital camera thing is just getting started.
