Expatriate Resources: Thick New Massive Sulphide Intersection on Expatriate's WOL Claims
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--Dr. Harlan Meade, President and CEO of Expatriate Resources Ltd. is pleased to announce a significant massive sulphide intersection on the WOL claims. Hole WW00-01 is the first drill hole to test the down-dip extension of the Wolverine Deposit on the WOL claims, which were recently acquired from Cominco Ltd [AMEX:CLT - news]. The hole intersected the massive sulphide horizon approximately100 meters downdip of drill hole WV96-64. Drill hole WV96-64 was particularly copper rich and intersected a true thickness of 4.2 metres grading 11.19% zinc, 0.78% lead, 9.82% copper, 399 g/t silver, 0.95g/t gold.
Drill hole WW00-01 indicates that the massive sulphides thickens downdip of hole WV96-64 with an indicated true thickness of 7.4 metres including 1.4 metres of lower grade relatively zinc rich stringer material. The precious metal grades are typical of mineralization nearer the core areas of the known zones suggesting considerable room for extension of the mineralization. These results also appear to confirm the interpretation of northeast plunging features controlling deposition of the massive sulphides. Results of the hole are tabulated below.
WOL True Zn Pb Cu Ag Au Drill Hole From To Interval Thickness % % % g/t g/t
WW00-01 426.0 434.2 8.2 7.4 13.56 1.16 0.68 152 0.59
Expatriate is continuing drilling on the WOL claims, with hole WW00-02 projected to intersect the massive sulphide horizon one hundred meters down dip of WW00-01. This hole was collared on June 18th and has a target depth of 475 metres.
The Wolverine Deposit on the Wolverine Joint Venture claims has a total resource of:
Zn Pb Cu Ag Au Deposit Tonnes % % % g/t g/t
Wolverine 6,237,000 12.66 1.55 1.33 371 1.76
The Wolverine Geological Resource (measured, indicated, inferred) was estimated by Westmin Resources Limited (Jan 15, 1998)
The results of hole WW00-01 demonstrates that the Wolverine deposit is indeed open downdip and indicates that the addition of resources is likely as drilling continues.
Drilling with a second drill will begin today on Expatriate's Goal Net Property located 15 kilometers southwest of Wolverine and 7 kilometers southeast of the GP4F Deposit. The property is underlain by a thick package of felsic and mafic volcanic rocks that contain laterally extensive iron and localized manganese-bearing horizons. These rocks have been interpreted to be at a similar stratigraphic position as the Kudz Ze Kayah and GP4F deposits.
Six priority targets have been identified on the Goal Net property. Drilling will initially test a coincident lead zinc soil anomaly that coincides with a flat lying conductive horizon within shallow dipping felsic volcanic strata. Samples of leached subcrop material have assayed up to 0.6 g/t gold, 32.0 g/t silver and 4.55% lead. High precious metal content has generally been a good guide to stratabound mineralization in the district.
Line cutting crews have been mobilized to Expatriate's Red Line Property in preparation for a detailed ground geophysical survey that will begin on approximately June 25th. This area is underlain by a favourable package of rocks considered to be equivalent to the felsic volcanic rocks that host the Kudz Ze Kayah and the GP4F deposits. Previous drilling in the area intersected massive and semi-massive sulphide mineralization associated with chlorite alteration. The ground geophysics will test the area downdip and along strike of previous drilling to define targets for additional drilling.
Evaluation of the extensive database for the mineral claims recently acquired from Cominco is underway and is expected to confirm numerous drill targets for testing in the latter part of the drill season.
A plan map showing the location of drill hole WW00-01 and cross section through the Wolverine Deposit are available, on request, by fax or email from Expatriate.
Management is very pleased with these excellent drill results and is encouraged by the exceptional continuity and increased thickness of the mineralization on its WOL claims.
This press release may contain forward-looking statements based on assumptions and judgements of management regarding future events or results that may prove to be inaccurate as a result of exploration and other risk factors beyond its control and actual results may differ materially from the expected results.
