Finland Gets Parliament Approval to Sell Rest of Sonera Shares By Jonas Dromberg Helsinki, June 21 (Bloomberg) -- The Finnish parliament voted to allow the government to sell the rest of its shares in Sonera Oyj, the country's biggest telephone company, as the country looks to reduce debt. The 159-20 decision gives the government permission to sell its 53 percent stake -- worth 21 billion euros ($20 billion) -- to a rival phone company. ``The shares can be renounced by means of share-based mergers and acquisitions, sales or other strategic arrangements,'' said Sonera. The government said last month it may sell its stake in Sonera by means other than a stock offering, fueling expectations the stake may be sold to a rival phone company. The shares, which fell 3.20 euros, or 6 percent, to 50.30 euros today, are down 44 percent since early March. They have risen sevenfold since the initial offering in 1998. Finance Minister Sauli Niinistoe may want to sell the stake before the stock declines further. ``We are also looking into strategic partnerships in our focus areas, mobile communications and services,'' said Sonera Chief Executive Aulis Salin in a statement. ``The company has started to examine various alternatives
