>You've got to be kidding! I have projects on my Zip disks. I rewrite and rewrite over those files until the project is finished or put on hold. I then do not throw away the files, but keep them on their Zip disk for possible future use.<

In my case, I've run out of room on my hard drive. My company only allows me to save 20 megs on the server and only for a temporary period. For this reason I've down loaded onto Zip disks several programs that I use infrequently (Coral Draw, Pagemaker, etc). I started with one Zip disk last year. I now have 7 disks. I have not filled each disk because I like to keep some of my stuff separate.

Ask yourself, how many 1.44 floppies do you have? If you're like most folks you probably have many. Do you write and rewrite over them? Sometime you do, sometimes you don't. Regardless, they do tend to accumulate. In the future, there's a good chance that all those 1.44 floppies will be Zip disks.

With respect to the Zip business model, I've never bought into the 'razor blade' theory. However, I think that those who believe folks will write and rewrite over a single disk are misunderstanding human behavior.

P.S. I dropped by Business Depot last Saturday. They had 10 PC's on the shelve. Two had internal Zips (HP and PB). Last February they had no PC's with internal Zips. It looks like progress is being made:-) Also, they had Zip drives (P) at $149/each. I asked the sale person if Zip drives were popular. He said they were `widely popular'. I asked him if they sold anything that competed with Zip. He indicated that they had in the past but not any more.
`Just Zips'.
