THREAD ALERT:

STBY - HEARD on the street:

(1) A Letter of Intent to acquire the Montana garnet operation. All of the terms for the acquisition have been set. STBY will probably make the announcement before the markets open on Thursday, since it will be a joint release with the CDNX-listed seller.

(2) The Brazil acquisition is progressing, albeit slowly. The seller's family will be in Denver on July 12th to meet with STBY about the deal.

(3) Los Banos exfoliation plant is operating well. STBY is selling every ton of ore they can get to CA for value-added processing.

(4) Eldon Brickle is off to CA again tomorrow to look for land that the Las Banos exfoliation plant can be re-located to & operations expanded. The U.S. government (U.S. Dept. of Agriculture) loan application process is going along well. Getting a contract on the land for the plant should be all that's needed before the app can be
submitted.

(5) STBY has begun to ramp up production at the Dillon vermiculite mine. They are in the process of hiring and training four crews to work the mine and mill on a 24 hr/day basis. They hope to take production from the current 10 to 20 ST/day up to 100 ST/day by the end of July.

(6) On the financing side, STBY has been in discussions with Merritt Capital (anyone know them ??) concerning a $2 MM private placement. Proceeds would be used for closing the Mica Peak (NV) acquisition (STBY needs $900,000 cash), working capital for the Montana garnet mine, and cash to settle debts owed to International Vermiculite (about $300,000 ??). Once funds are in place, STBY can complete the dissolution of the Int'l Vermiculite JV and get 100% control of the Dillon & Hamilton projects.
