What difference does it make if Brazil wants to have GSM companies invest in local wireless networks that will compete with CDMA.

C'mon, in addition to splitting market share currently, makes eventual DS-CDMA evolution (vs. MC) far more likely.

Maybe some of the techies can comment on the relative costs of upgrading from the current CDMA spectrum in Brazil to the 1X/3X product line. Isn't this costlier than when the base CDMA network is already at 1900Mhz?
