A.L You seem to hit the switch often and quick!, remember this one?
Your post was in-regards to Q being late or being able to do DS chip. The following is a response i got to your post>
Hello Michael, Reagan is right in his assertion that the W-CDMA camp has had an headstart wrt DS development - however, that has to be taken in proper perspective: pretty much everyone else has been blown off by Q's aggressive and successful development of 1x/HDR chips, so they're all focusing on W-CDMA chips instead. If they have a real headstart, where're the technology trials? Where are the demos of 384kbps data that they tout? 1x data is here - ready today and happenning now!
It is reality that GSM networks with upgrade to W-CDMA - hence, Q's aggressively pursuing that market. While other folks may have a headstart in starting out with the ASICs, do bear in mind that Q has 10+ years of experience in developing, testing and deploying CDMA - IS-95 had its growth pains. Q learnt siginificant lessons from it. So, what appears as a an initial headstart is quickly being overcome through Q's experience - Q will indeed bring in a DS product that offers a wealth of technologies *integrated* on the MSM (multimedia for instance)( while other DS chips will be baseband, maybe some RF efforts. So, stay tuned, watch the markets unfold - a few battles shall be conceded to the DS camp (e.g. DoCoMo's intention to launch next Spring), but rest assured, Q shall win the "war" :-) While Q never pretends to be "God", with 1x/HDR/W-CDMA/etc. it is in a fairly comfortable position from the point of development, schedule, IPR and business! Happy investing and thanks for your interest! Regards, |
