blackice defender is a very good personal firewall, as i'm sure you know. i use it also. i recommend that you follow a previous poster's suggestion to visit steve gibson's shield's up! site grc.com and put your machines through both tests ('test my shields" and 'probe my ports'). blackice should stealth you all the way, with the possible exception of port 113, which might just give you a 'closed' status. if this is the case for you, bi considers this to be all right, and there is a bi knowledge base article that further explains port 113 and how to stealth it if you choose. advice.networkice.com good luck :) mark
