KF - Have I missed something or did the the Q just lose another massive market to GSM and the gang that back it?

It would be nice to think that there was going to be some pie left for the Q out of W-CDMA but it seems to me that Q's actions and words have been to the effect that cdma2000 was its most profitable option. Is that not correct?

In the meantime Q is losing to GSM in markets where the roaming facility should be won by cdma since Brazilians that roam mostly do so in the US and other local markets.

Also the cost factor in operating a cdma network is supposed to be far more in cdma's favour and yet we just see quotes from Siemens that the Brazilian consumer is the winner in goign for 1,800Mhz (GSM).

I have said before that the GSM gang are playing chess and the Q is playing Marco-Polo. If things carryon as they are these GSM people are going to get cdma banned in the US.

What great businessmen these guys are, what powers of sheer salesmanship they have and how persuasive they have been to win the hearts and minds of the Chinese and now the Brazilians and who knows who else. All these nice free markets that allow free competition for US companies.....well sort of free but perhaps I shouldn't use the word free in this context.

Wake up Q....wake up America. Today its GSM tomorrow it'll be Airbus super jumbos and after that who knows what else.

You cna't sell anything big in theese markets today in a free fashion. When it comes to a US company with better technology these countries will come up with all sorts of barriers to protect their outdated crap and then spoil the rest of the Worlds markets for the US companies with the better technology.

Best regards,

L
