Mt dear MAROON, Haqi...

"Haqi" -- sounds like a hacking cough (or the sound a wheezing camel might make after snorting out a lungfull of dust in the Southern Sahara).

English was only one of my majors. I also took the sciences: astronomy, physics and others. But all that is neither here nor there.

Unlike you, I love what I'm doing and I love to immerse myself in creation and exploration. I plan NEVER to retire. Retirement is not a dream for me. I plan to explore the world (as I have already been doing) and investigate some of the world's most puzzling mysteries personally and write books about my experiences. That is part of what I plan to do.

If I am a "good citizen," Comrade, it is only by default. The measure of my life is not how well I can adapt to society, but how I can keep as much of this crazy culture out of my personal life and ambitions. I frankly do not care for the urban anthills, nor the worker bees who spend their eight hours a day at jobs they loathe and rush home to numb their minds in front of a TV for four to six hours and then end their passionless day by slinking into bed hoping to forget their lurid dreams before they wake in the morning.

The America we have today is governed to a great extent by illusion and insanity. It is not my America, nor the America we could have.

I am glad you are retired and cannot get into too much mischief. I am glad you plan to vote for Bush and really think it will make a difference. I am glad you do not realize that you are a victim of programming and putter about your environment believing you are the master of your own fate.

I am sure your illusions bring you a false sense of security and an inner peace. So what if that inner peace is built upon a foundation of misconceptions, untruths and eclipsed reality? It got you through 64 years, I'm sure it will see you gently through the rest of your years.

Luckily I am neither pompous, nor an ass. But if you care to redefine my arguments to make yourself feel like a bigger person, go right ahead.

TTFN,

Father Terrence
