Joe, >I believe, as a vertically integrated company Sun Micro has seen their best days. They are not as good as big blue in the mainframe space and they just haven't got the economy of scale of Wintel. So unless you are religious why would you want Sun.

Apple has made it on "religion" as you put it, although they almost died and went to PC heaven a couple, three years ago.

I agree, Sun is an enigma. They have about zero important allies, whereas almost everyone else important is partnered up with several others. If someone says Oracle, Oracle dances with anybody, as well they should to make money. It will be interesting to see how Sun does, now that big Compaq Unix is back with Wildfire, IBM's S80 outperforms by a mile, and when IA-64 hits. I'm not personally betting against Sun yet though. They're something like Br'er Rabbit and the tarpit.
